The ANNEX-UX is a high-performance terminal server providing networkconnectivity with systems supporting TCP/IP and Ethernet. Designed forUNIX, it features a comprehensive set of features and a UNIX-stylecommand interface with built-in help.The ANNEX-UX complies with networking standards. It has a robust TCP/IPimplementation that is fully compatible with 4.3 BSD and supportssubnets. Both rlogin and telnet protocols are supported. A telnet serverallows modems and other asynchronous devices to become accessible fromanywhere in the network. Both the IEN116 and BIND name servers aresupported. The ANNEX-UX provides an editing front end, LEAP, whichoffloads host computers by eliminating the need for responding to everykeystroke. A version of GNu-EMACS modified to work with LEAP isavailable.Encore-supplied UNIX utilities permit ANNEX-UX network administrationfrom a workstation system or an asynchronous terminal. A flexiblesecurity system supports password protection of ports and resources.SL/IP support provides alternate methods for internet access.The ANNEX-UX is available in 16- and 32-port configurations, each ofwhich has one additional Centronics-compatible parallel printer port.
